Lawson and the Racket are a five-piece band based in Kilkenny, Ireland. This policy explains what happens to personal information collected through lawsonandtheracket.com. We have tried to write it in plain English rather than legal boilerplate.
For data protection purposes the band is the data controller. If you have a question about this policy, or want to exercise any of the rights set out below, contact us at info@lawsonandtheracket.com.
We only collect information you actively choose to give us. There are two forms on this site.
Mailing list — your name and email address. We use them for one thing only: sending news about new music and tour dates. The legal basis is your consent, given when you submit the form, and you can withdraw it at any time.
Contact form — your name, email address, subject and message. We use these only to reply to you. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering enquiries about bookings, press and the band.
We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking on this site. We do not build profiles of visitors, and we will never sell, rent or trade your details.
Form submissions are stored in this website’s own database and emailed to the band so we can read and reply to them. The site is hosted by Hostinger, whose servers keep standard access logs — including visitor IP addresses — for security and troubleshooting.
Mailing list details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them. Contact enquiries are kept for up to two years after we last corresponded, then deleted. Server logs are kept for the short period set by our host.
This site sets no analytics or advertising cookies. WordPress sets cookies only for logged-in administrators of the site, not for ordinary visitors. Our caching software may set a technical cookie so pages load faster; it contains no personal information.
Some pages embed video from YouTube. We use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode, so no cookies are set until you press play. Once you do, YouTube receives your IP address and its own privacy policy applies: policies.google.com/privacy
This site also loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your IP address is sent to Google when a page loads.
Under the General Data Protection Regulation you have the right to ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format. To do any of these, email the address above. We will respond within one month.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission, Ireland’s supervisory authority, at dataprotection.ie.
If we change how we handle personal information — for example by moving the mailing list to an external provider — we will update this page and change the date at the top.
